It seems like our trip went way too quick. Here's the rundown of what we did:
Saturday - drive to stay overnight in Pensacola
Sunday - breakfast with friends, the Naval Aviation Museum and drive to our hotel in Davenport, FL
Monday - Universal's Islands of Adventure (where the Harry Potter park is located)
Tuesday - WonderWorks museum (it rained that morning, so John's plan to go to one of the Disc Golf courses didn't pan out)
Wednesday - Legoland Florida
Thursday - drive home

It was a packed, but fun, week and I'm glad we took the time (and money) and to do it. It was a great thing to surprise the kids with and it's something we won't forget for a while.

Spring Break!

If you are friends with me on Facebook, then you know that we've been planning a trip to FL with the boys for weeks now and that we didn't fill them in on it. That's right - planning happened with them knowing nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

Still trying to figure out how we managed to keep it from them.

On Saturday, after soccer practice was over, the kids were told to pack a bag to keep themselves busy in the car:

And so began our vacation. We drove to Pensacola on Saturday and stayed overnight at the Crowne Plaza . The room was great and the lobby was an old train station. I think the bed must have been pretty comfy for them, don't you?

The kids loved the fact that there was a library available, even though I don't think there was much in there that they would have read.

Yes, John Anthony decided he need to photo bomb the picture I was trying to take of the library.

Sunday morning, we drove to meet some friends who had moved to the area a few years ago for breakfast at the Scenic90 Cafe . The food was awesome and I think Joey was just a little excited to see Alex again.

Before getting on the road, we decided to make a stop at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. Unfortunately, they were experiencing a power outage, so we were only able to go thru one of the hangars and not the entire museum.

At this point, the kids are entirely under the impression that we drove to Pensacola to have breakfast with our friends and to go to the museum and that we are going to be heading back to Memphis. When we get back in the car to go, they start playing games on their DS's and ignore where we are going. 5 hours later, we did the big reveal when we had about 2 hours left to get to the hotel we had booked.
